There are not many sport clubs in Poland with such long and developed tradition as Warta Poznań. The club was established in 1912 and its fencing section is commemorating 64th anniversary this year. In the years of their activity, fencers of Warta were triumphing on the Polish and world fencing pistes.
Those successes constitutes achievement of fencing masters of Poznań - Jan Pieczyński and Jana Nowak. Those outstanding trainers formed so call fencing school of Poznań, which present trainers feel as successors. In the sporting environment the surnames of fencers appearing with characteristic letter W in green color on the sleeve of fencing top are well known. Many of them achieved medals on the Championships of World and Europe. In recent years the leaders were such competitors as Małgorzata Wojtkowiak, Tomasz Ciepły and Andrzej Witkowski – presently trainer of the green team.
Presently, Warta colors team includes approximately 100 young foil fencers (women and men), who are obstinately training that demanding sport discipline. „Young in offensive” it is the most accurate term appropriate to characterize fencers of Warta, who wants to stay exemplary successors of their predecessors.
